I'm car illiterate, and need help please.?

So, I have a 2002 toyota celica gt, stick shift. I can't stand having a stick shift. I was wondering if I can have it made into an automatic. A friend said I'd new a new transmission, and a drive shaft, and it'd prolly be pretty pricey. I'm curious to know if this is true, and what would the price range be?
