Did the re-election of Michele Bachmann in Minnesota prove that nobody is listening to democrats anymore?

Democrats spent millions of dollars trying to defeat Bachmann and the media slandered her for two years or longer but in the end the voters still made their own independent decision. What does that say about the democratic party political machine?
